Elaissa Bautista (b. 1999, Batangas) is a filmmaker-writer under the pen name Kapelikula, a homage to her Batangueña heritage and love of films. She is a BA Film graduate from the University of the Philippines Diliman, with a distinction of Best Research Thesis that focuses on martial law film archives and programming. She has worked as a producer, production manager, art director, art department coordinator, translator, and researcher for multi-awarded and nominated short films. In 2023, she began focusing her work on film and audiovisual archiving. In 2025, she worked as a project officer at the Quezon City Film Commission and served as the project lead for QCinema Industry. As a Southern Tagalog artist, she often writes about bodies and spaces in regional and urban landscapes. After self-publishing her poetry collections and producing her guerilla-shot debut film The Rats of the City (2023), her goal has been to find more spaces for women’s rights and the labor rights. As a film about homelessness, The Rats of the City (2023) remains a nomad film, screening in various places across the country.email & messaging
